My littlest one is about to turn 4. We have always felt there is just something extra special about the age of 4. In honor of her upcoming birthday, I had to capture some fresh portraits of her. I cannot wait for the prints to arrive! I ordered several to use in decorating the house for her birthday.

I love this silly one! This is just so her - always wanting people to smile at her.

I have shamefully neglected this blog during my break from shooting. I couldn't NOT share this session though.
I captured these moments with my parents on Easter Sunday while we were visiting at their new home. I'm so excited that they are *this close* to finishing it! I'm looking forward to many more visits with my family this year. Without further ado... my amazing parents.

I'm looking forward to taking a Christmas break and also looking forward to a fresh start in 2011!

So meet some of my friends. Not just my friends, but our kids are best friends. They are so fun to hang out with. This mom of three can still do crazy gymnastics tricks, not to mention split jumps in the air. Impressive, right? Love them!

So I super duper love this one! Kids are only little for such a short time. Hugs like that are short term, you know? Squeeze your kids tight while you can; they grow up so fast.

Ok, so maybe I've been reading too much children's poetry with my littles. But she is really so very sweet. Meet the newborn baby girl of one of my best friends. We were quite inseparable in our single years, my best friends and I that is. We met at a poignant time in life and bonded permanently. You know that kind of friend who will forgive you even when you mess up pretty bad? Even when you are trying to tell her that her hair is beautiful, but get tongue twisted and say AWFUL instead? {blush} That friend that you feel close to even when you haven't talked for ages? That's the momma of this newborn. Gosh I love my sweeties. I'm so thankful for them and their children.

Finally, I can post these. I wanted Holly to be able to see these portraits before anyone else. Well she came over today and looked through all her images. It was so fun to watch her flip through the portraits of her gorgeous kids! I get goose bumps, I tell ya'. Are you ready for some gorgeous brown-eyes? Blue eyes get all the fame sometimes, but brown eyes are like deep, dark pools of silky smoothness. And they reflect everything.

{Kansas in the Fall} Olathe Family Photographer

This was the most relaxing session. This session just proved again how custom photography can be fun and enjoyable. So different from the photo sessions that I experienced in my first few years of being a mom. You know, the box-store photo sessions crammed with people waiting for their turn? Those tension-filled sessions are what drove me to custom photography.

For this session we drove a little over an hour West to meet up with my friend and fellow photographer, Terra. Rural Kansas is just beautiful this time of year. The drive was peaceful and beautiful and the session location was perfect. Thanks for a great evening Terra!

Sappy sneak peak! I'm editing this session and decided to blog one real quick. I love this portrait. Big puffy heart kind of love it. I know, you are going to say "But everyone isn't looking!" Then I will tell you that you are missing the big picture and that maybe it's because you don't know my friend Holly.

I think she is stunning. Simply beautiful. She's that friend that is always smiling and has this peace. No matter what conversations are going on around her and regardless of what the kids are doing, she's going to flash you a smile. She has this huge heart for God and friends and family and everyone else. She introduces you to new people and makes you fall in love with them. She opens her home to people and convinces them to bring their dogs and stay a while, sometimes a long while. And she has this great smile she has. Love you Holly! More to come very soon.

I had borrowed a lens to try out and found this neat little spot. All I needed was a model (or two)! I snagged Amanda after church, asked if they were available for an evening, and this is what we ended up with. It really was so much fun. P.S. For those that know things about lenses, my lens didn't arrive in time for this session. I used my trusty prime and it was perfect.

The day did not start out so pretty. We chatted, considered canceling, and then the sun would peak out. So we were on, and then the rain drops fell. That's midwest weather for you! We persevered, though and I'm so glad we did!

Let me tell you about this family. They can seem a little quiet, but each one of them has a light-up-the-room kind of smile. It was a pleasure to spend some time with you "P" Family!

Gorgeous mom and dad and 2 big brothers. Any little prince would wish to be so blessed. She was so sweet and had all kinds of expressions for me.

Isn't she so cute? Can you stand to see even more? Ummmmmm.... Of course you can!

She did such a great job that day. Now this is probably my favorite image of the day, although it is hard to choose. Is there anything sweeter? I have 4 little ones and hugs like this don't last forever. I mean I still get hugs from my older kids, but I treasure those all consuming hugs when they are little and you can hold their entire little bodies and just squeeze and snuggle and smell their hair. le sigh. Hold on tight moms because they grow so fast.

Mischievous much? Love this grin! Actually, he was so very polite and easy to work with. I think he's going to be a sweet heart and a heart breaker at the same time.

Now this little guy is such a sweetie. I could have sat and snuggled him myself. He reminds me of my little guy... just too busy to sit still for formal pictures.

Catching children on the go can be a challenge. But it's also when you get the best pictures. I love this one of him walking through the tall grass with the walking stick he found on the trail.

And mom and dad. I love these. They make me happy. What a blessed family. Thank you "P" family for sharing your evening with me. I hope you love your images.

Sneak Peaks!

I'm not usually fond of sneak peaks. It's kind of like knowing what you are getting for Christmas before Christmas morning. Or like when everyone tells you what they bought for your daughter's first birthday 2 weeks before the party. I guess I kind of like surprises!
So why am I posting a sneak peak? Because I can't keep these gorgeous children to myself any longer!!! I'm and editing as fast as I can (whilst mothering 4 children - know how that goes?), but am not yet done. So some sneak peaks must be shared. I hope you enjoy.

Baby M. Sweet little miracle baby. She is gorgeous and loves some snuggling.

Baby F. What a stoic little guy. He slept solid and was not bothered by much of anything. Handsome isn't he?

Baby N. So sweet. She has the most gorgeous baby skin and red hair and perfectly pouty lips. le sigh. This little one is the new little girl of one of my best friends - a true Sweetie. Holding her was like holding a new niece.

And then just one from a recent family session. Gorgeous little girl. Her brothers were the epitome of politeness. You will have to wait to see those handsome pics, though. This is only a sneak peak. ;-)

Sleep Sweet Baby, Sleep

This session was such a treat. This sweet baby boy was so warm and snuggly, so tiny and gorgeous. I loved holding him and taking his portrait. I smile every time I think about him.

Would you just look at his little eyes? Doesn't that just make you melt? What a sweet, tired baby.

And mom... She is so beautiful.

It is not a slight thing when those so fresh from God love us.

It was my pleasure to spend an evening with this trio of lovely ladies. Later in the evening with the warm sun shining down, it was just hot enough to be sure that it was July. The girls played, did cartwheels, found shells at the creek, and ran fast! I followed them around with my camera catching them in various pockets of light.

Love these girls! One of them is our favorite babysitter of all time, too. They were cracking me up the whole time we were out sweating in the muggy heat, and when we were all done they left me missing my own best friends something fierce.

Um. Yeah. See what I mean??? 100% fun. Love these girls!! Do you both really have to go off to college? Can't you just stay here?

I know, dumb question. Of course you aren't going to stick around here. Onward and upward to bigger and better things ladies!
